The Village of Woodridge offers almost 34 miles of off-road, asphalt-paved paths. The paths link up with more than 100 miles of bikeways from surrounding communities that are used for recreational and commuter bicyclists.
In 1995, the Village initiated the bikeway study. The bikeway study identifies a long-term plan for the planning and construction of marked bikeway routes throughout the Village. In 1996, the Village had a total of 3.7 miles of bikeway. The study identifies approximately 21.7 miles of new bikeway, which would create a network of safe facilities throughout the Village's roadway network and open space. At the end of 1999, approximately 11.5 miles of bikeway has been constructed.
The goal of the bikeway construction is to provide an off road system of bikeways throughout the Village for recreational purposes, connection of Village facilities, parks, forest preserves, residential and commercial destinations, regional bikeway connections and alternative transportation mode.
